Day 64

Today the carpet guy came and replaced the pad and put the carpet back down. Yay! We're now one step closer to getting the room put back together. The only thing that still needs to be done is the baseboards and some paint touch up. The restoration company took the baseboards off and the carpet guy put them back on today, but now they need re-caulked and touched up and there are some spots on the wall where the paint got dinged in this whole mess, so that needs to be touched up before we can move the furniture back in.

We got lucky with the carpet guy. He just did it as a side job, not though the company he usually works for, so he did it cheap. After how much the restoration company cost, we needed cheap. Doing it as a side job meant that we had to wait for him to have some free time to do it, but the wait was worth it for the money it saved us. I'm glad that all of that is over and we can get this thing wrapped up.

Happy thing number two is that after all the stress of this past month, I decided to plan a little side vacation for the week we visit my hometown to say goodbye to my mom and stepdad. We had originally decided not to take a family vacation this summer because braces for two kids and a basement flood pretty much sucked up our fun money for the summer, but today I changed my mind a bit. We need some adventure. I need to recharge my batteries. We all need a change of scenery. So I found an awesome deal and booked us a super cute vacation rental in a small town in the middle of nowhere in the Teton mountains for a few days. It's just over an hour or so from my hometown, so we're going to stop at my moms for a day, continue on to our little getaway and then come back to my moms for a few more days and then come home.

I'm really looking forward to this. I need to be up in the mountains for a few days. I need to breathe some fresh air and spend some time in nature and step away from the craziness of life for a bit. There is nowhere more beautiful and peaceful than the Teton Mountains to recharge your soul. It's one of my favorite places in the world.

So those are my happy things today. My basement is one step closer to being put back together and I have a vacation in the mountains to look forward to. After a stressful few weeks, it's great to have fun things to look forward to!

For my photo of the day you get a lame picture of my basement. You've already seen pictures of my basement. But the carpet is back down and that makes me happy!
